Summer Reading Linkys!

I'm joining my first linkys, pretty exciting..I know! They are from Mrs. Bainbridge's and Mrs. Stanford's classes. In addition to beginning my blogging career, tutoring, and entering my third trimester with baby Jackson, I'm also doing a little reading. Currently I'm reading a book called The Leader in Me by Stephen Covey. Our school is implementing the 7 habits for staff and students. So far, I love it! There are so many problem solving and leadership skills taught in this program, I'm so excited.

I'm also looking at the revised addition of Words their Way by Donald Bear. Word study is a focus for me next year. I noticed that many of my second graders came in with many gaps in phonics and spelling. I want to be ready to go next year!

  2. Thanks! I'm a newbie in the blog world and trying to get my feet wet. :) I've skimmed Words Their Way before but I haven't actually spent quality time reading through it, so I plan to do that this summer. I'll let you know what I come up with!

(My blog wouldn't let me click "reply" and post that way...trying to figure it out!)

  3. Welcome to Bloggy World!
Some teachers on my campus got a chance to go to a school that implements The Leader in Me. They loved it and started using it a little in their class.
I'm also interested in what you find out about Words Their Way. I had the same trouble in my 2nd grade class.

    1. Thanks Denise! I'm looking forward to getting some quality reading time in this summer. I'm also excited about my blog, I've always read others and figured it would be fun to make my own. I'll update thoughts and ideas I get from the books here.
