Grandparents' Day Bookmark Gift

Did y'all know Grandparents' Day is September 8th? I know some schools celebrate it and some don't but I think it's a great way to say "Thank you" to grandparents for all they do. My son is only 11 months old but his grandparents do SO MUCH for him, its unreal. I know my grandparents did a ton for me when I was growing up too. Grandparents are SO special!! Gotta love them!

I remember around special holidays like this I was always scrambling for a cute (and easy!!) craft for my students to create. I came up with a cute little bookmark that would be a great present for grandparents.

I wrote a cute little poem and put it in a rectangle. See picture...

Then I took some craft scissors and cut around the poem and left ample space on the bottom.

On the bottom of the poem you have can have your kids glue in a small picture of themselves. Sometimes we would get those little miniature Life Touch school photos...but not always. If you have those, they would be awesome! If not, you take a photo of each kid and print it wallet size or you can have them just draw a picture of themselves and sign the bottom. I drew a little picture of my son and signed his name as an example.

Next I rummaged through my craft bins and found some scrapbook paper and ribbon. Then I glued the poem onto the scrapbook paper and punched a whole in the top for the ribbon.

This would need to be laminated for durability. Of course you can use any background paper and ribbon you want...easy peasy! You can pick up the poem here.

On another note...today was Jackson's first day of Mother's Day Out and I cried like a BABY!!! He is only going to be there for 5 hours a day and he needs the socialization...but OH MY GOSH. It was so hard leaving my little boy for the first time. Luckily, he was already making friends and he wasn't crying at all, which made it a little easier. But OMG, he is such a big boy and I just can't help but tear up when I think of how much he's grown. Now I know how my kinder parents felt that first day of kindergarten. *Sigh*

Also, don't forget I'm giving away $100 worth of Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards!! You can enter to win here. Have a fabulous day y'all!!
