Centers Sunday #8 {Hello Spring!}

Hello friends! I hope y'all are having a fabulous weekend and if you are on spring break, I hope it's a great one so far!! :) I'm so excited to bring you 3 new centers with a spring theme. I know it's technically still winter but I am SO over winter, I'm sure most of y'all are too.

Today we have 3 literacy centers: long vowels, sight words and affixes.

For kinder:

For this activity students sort the pictures according to their long vowel sound. They can sort on their desks or in a pocket chart. I've included two recording sheets: one with the word and one with the picture. :) You can pick this file up here.

For first grade:

This is a sight word game where students play in partners. The set of cards includes the Dolch First Grade sight word set and a blank page to add your own words. You can pick this file up here.

For second grade:

Students sort the cards according to whether they have prefixes or suffixes and record. Easy peasy! :) You can pick this file up here.

I hope you find these centers useful in your classroom or at home with your kiddos!! Tomorrow I'm going to post about a REALLY awesome opportunity for teacher bloggers and teachers. Make sure you come back tomorrow to hear all about it!

Centers Sunday #7

Hey friends!! It's Sunday!! You know what that means? Centers Sunday!! It's 11:11 pm and I'm just now posting them, sorry y'all! It's been a crazy busy day but I still managed to get them done for you. Here's what I've got for ya...

Kinder: Word Families

This center is pretty easy. Kids sort the cards according to their word families. You can put the header cards on a table or in a pocket chart. You can pick this file up here.

First grade: Even or Odd

This game can be played in pairs or independently to review even and odd. You can pick this file up here.

Second Grade: Standard form, expanded form and word form

For this center, laminate the puzzles and cut them out. To make them self checking, use a permanent marker to create a code on the back of the puzzles so students know that they completed the puzzles correctly. The practice page doesn't correlate with the puzzles but is an extension for them to do independently. You can pick this file up here.

I'm working on a second grade St. Patrick's Day math unit, if you teach second let me know what you'd like to see! Here's a peek at my first grade packet that I finished today. It's on sale until tomorrow night. You can see the details of this file here.

I hope y'all enjoy these!! :)

Centers Sunday #6! {Free K-2 Centers}

Hi Friends!! I hope y'all had a great weekend. I'm here to bring you centers Sunday #6. This week I went with a St. Patrick's Day theme. I asked y'all what sort of centers you needed for  your rooms this week on my Facebook page and I tried to incorporate what you asked for as much as possible. If you follow me on Facebook you can let me know what skills you need and I can feature them in a center activity.

Ok soooooooooooooo here we go, kinder:

This is a math center for helping students understand the concept of how many more. I've found that this is a tricky concept, even when I taught second graders. In this center I included shamrock and horseshoe counters so the kids can match up the counters 1:1 and see the difference. Hopefully this will help them understand the concept of how many more. The number cubes are easy to put together, just print them on regular paper, cut them out and tape the sides. You can pick this file up here.

First Grade:

This activity has children practice reading and writing long a and long e words. Students sort the words and then record them on their page. Easy peasy! You can pick that file up here.

Second Grade:

For this activity, students read the clocks and record the time. The clocks are time to the 1 minute intervals. An answer key is included if you want your students to check their answers. You can pick the file up here.

If you like these centers, stay tuned. I'll be working on a St. Patricks' Day math packet for K/1/2 and literacy if time allows. I spent tons and tons of time working on my second grade social studies notebook this week and I'm not anywhere near to being finished...but my goal is to get it done by the 27th! We'll see! Cross your fingers! :)

Ok y'all I've been working hard ALL weekend. I'm going to take some time now and enjoy what's left of this beautiful day! Have a great evening and a fantastic Monday!!
